About Acid Capitalist
<!-- PAGE: /about META TITLE: About Acid Capitalist — Free, Unbiased Financial News for Independent Investors META DESCRIPTION: Acid Capitalist is a free, AI-first financial news site that tracks markets, scores influencer predictions, and says what the data says — no paywall, no bias, no bullshit. -->The Short Version
Acid Capitalist is free financial news and analysis for people who do their own thinking.
We cover markets. We track what financial influencers are saying on X, YouTube, and everywhere else. We challenge their claims with data. And we keep score — because in finance, accountability is the rarest commodity there is.
No paywall. No subscription tiers. No "upgrade to read the rest." Just the information you need to make better decisions, delivered by people who respect your intelligence and your time.
Why We Exist
Here's the problem with financial media in 2026:
The best information is locked behind paywalls. Bloomberg charges $25,000 a year for a terminal. The Wall Street Journal wants $40 a month. Seeking Alpha gates its best content behind a subscription. And CNBC? They're performing for advertisers, not informing you.
Meanwhile, the most interesting financial conversation is happening for free on X, YouTube, Reddit, and Substack — scattered across hundreds of accounts, with zero accountability and no way to tell who's consistently right and who's consistently full of it.
That's the gap we fill.
We aggregate the best financial content from across the internet, challenge it with evidence, expose biases, and track who actually gets it right over time. All of it free. All of it transparent. All of it built for independent investors who deserve better than what they're getting.
What Makes Us Different
We Keep Score
This is the thing that matters most. Every pundit, influencer, and "thought leader" in finance makes predictions. Almost none of them are held accountable when those predictions are wrong.
We change that. We track public predictions from financial influencers and score them over time. Right, wrong, or too early to call — we log it, we follow up, and we publish the results. If someone nailed a call, we give them credit. If someone's track record is garbage, the data speaks for itself.
This isn't personal. It's the one thing missing from financial media: receipts.
We Flag the Bias
Every article you read — ours included — carries biases. The difference is we tell you where they are.
Our Bias Flag is a signature element in our coverage: an explicit callout of where the dominant media narrative diverges from what the data actually shows. When CNBC says one thing and the numbers say another, we point it out. When we have a bias of our own, we name it.
Hiding bias is what the other guys do. We'd rather just be honest about it.
We're AI-First (And We'll Tell You About It)
A significant portion of our content is researched, drafted, and enriched with AI assistance. This isn't a secret — it's the whole point.
AI makes us faster, less biased, and more consistent than a traditional newsroom. It lets us cover more ground, check more data, and publish more often — all without charging you a cent.
But AI doesn't run the show. Every piece of content is supervised by human editors with deep domain expertise. The AI makes us efficient. The humans make us sharp. Together, that's how a free publication competes with outlets charging hundreds of dollars a year.
More on how we use AI below.
What We Cover
Daily Market Overview — Our flagship piece. Every morning, we publish a comprehensive market briefing that tells you everything that matters in 5 minutes. Indices, movers, sentiment, macro context, and what's trending on FinTwit — all in one place.
Market News & Analysis — Earnings, macro data, Fed moves, sector trends. Standard coverage done without the standard bias.
FinTwit Radar — What the crowd on X and YouTube is talking about. Which narratives are gaining traction. Whether those narratives hold up against actual data.
Influencer Scorecards — Track records of financial influencers and pundits, updated over time. Who's been right. Who's been noise.
Deep Dives — Long-form analysis on single themes, tickers, or macro trends. Dense with signal. Zero padding.
How We Use AI — Full Transparency
We believe AI is the most important development in media since the internet. Here's exactly how we use it:
Research & data collection. AI helps us pull, structure, and cross-reference market data, news, and social media content at a speed no human team could match.
Drafting & enrichment. AI assists in writing first drafts, enriching articles with additional context, and maintaining consistent quality across high-volume output.
Bias reduction. This is the one people don't expect. AI, prompted correctly, is structurally less biased than any individual writer. It doesn't have a portfolio to talk its book. It doesn't have a network of sources it needs to protect. It just processes the data.
Fact-checking. AI cross-references claims against available data — helping us catch errors before they reach you.
What AI doesn't do: Make editorial judgment calls. Decide what's important. Write the Acid Take. Those are human decisions, made by editors with 10+ years of media industry experience.
Every article on this site indicates when AI was used in its creation. We mark it clearly because we believe transparency makes us stronger, not weaker.
Our Team
Content on Acid Capitalist is published under named author personas. In the interest of the transparency we won't shut up about, here's what you need to know:
Acid Capitalist Editorial — The team voice. Used for market overviews, digests, and content that represents the publication's collective take.
Marcus Reid — Macro Analyst. Covers Fed policy, yield curves, inflation, and the big-picture forces that move everything else.
These are AI-assisted author personas, supervised by our human editorial team. We chose this model because it combines the consistency and speed of AI with the editorial judgment of experienced humans — and because we'd rather be upfront about it than pretend a single person is writing 5+ articles a day.
More authors are coming as we grow.
Our Editorial Standards
We have a point of view. Fence-sitting isn't journalism, it's cowardice. When the data points in a direction, we say so.
We show our work. Bold claims come with data. If we can't back it up, we don't publish it.
We credit good calls. If an influencer or a mainstream outlet got something right, we say so — regardless of whether we like them.
We own our misses. We keep score on ourselves too. When we get it wrong, the record shows it.
We don't hedge everything into meaninglessness. "Markets could go up or down" is not analysis. It's nothing. We do better than that.
We're not contrarian by default. Being wrong in the opposite direction is still wrong. We follow the evidence, not an attitude.
What We Are NOT
Let's be as clear about this as we are about everything else:
We are not financial advisers. We are not registered, licensed, or authorized to provide personalized financial advice in any jurisdiction. We are a news and commentary publication.
Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, cryptocurrency, commodity, or financial instrument. We don't know your financial situation, your risk tolerance, or your goals.
Always do your own research. Always consult a qualified financial professional before making investment decisions. Markets carry substantial risk. You can lose money. Past performance doesn't predict future results.
We exist to inform you, not to tell you what to do with your money. That part is on you.
